Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is nature’s ‘plumping molecule’ and is found naturally in your body. As we age, skin loses its natural HA, leading to a loss of volume, the formation of wrinkles, sagging, reduced hydration and support. Dermal fillers replace the lost HA, revitalising and adding volume to the skin, instantly reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles for a natural, ‘lifted’ appearance.

Dermal fillers are most commonly used to enhance and restore the lips and cheeks (mid-face) areas. They can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as the cheeks and chin, and revitalise the skin. When used correctly, fillers can achieve a very natural looking result which does not affect facial expression. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 9 to 18 months, depending on the area injected before the HA is naturally broken down by the body.
Areas offered to be treated are:
-Lips 0.5mls, 0.7mls and 1ml.

-Cheek enhancement 1ml and 2ml

-Tear Trough 1ml

-Nose to mouth (nasolabial folds)

-Mouth to chin lines (marionette lines)
-Jawline
-Chin
-Improving jowls

Profhilo

profhilo-1024x877.jpg

Profhilo

What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is an injectable anti-ageing treatment made from hyaluronic acid for skin that is losing its elasticity and firmness with age. It can be used on the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands and knees, or any part of your body where the skin shows visible signs of ageing. There is an immediately noticeable improvement in skin tone, hydration as well as firmness, and lines are minimised.

Hyaluronic acid is best known as a ‘filler’ and is usually used to give volume to lips or to contour other areas of the face. Profhilo differs from the usual fillers in a number of ways due to its structure which allows it to flow over an extended area to boost hydration and smooth or ‘remodel’ the skin.

How does it work?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance produced in our body, found in skin, joints and other connective tissue. Its role is to retain moisture in the body and aid collagen production. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water which makes it ideal for binding moisture in the skin. With age, however, hyaluronic acid production slows and the skin looks duller and dehydrated, with fine lines and wrinkles forming.

Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of stabilised hyaluronic acid on the market. Because it is thermally bonded and not chemically bonded it acts as a hydrator not a filler. It is injected just underneath the surface of the skin where it disperses quickly and reacts with your own tissue to instantly boost hydration. Over the next four weeks phase two kick in as it goes to work boosting elastin and collagen production. This effectively remodels the skin and giving it a plumper, smoother and firmer appearance.

Due to its gel like consistency Profhilo distributes smoothly and evenly without the formation of any lumps – a potential risk with traditional fillers. This means it can be used on areas which are difficult to treat with traditional fillers, such as the neck and forehead.

How many treatments are needed?

The full treatment consists of two sessions, one month apart. A further session may be recommended after approximately six months in order to prolong the effect.

Profhilo can be used on its own or in conjunction with other fillers, laser treatments or Botox as a complementary, rather than a competitive treatment.

Who is it suitable for?

People over the age of 30 who are uncomfortable with skin laxity, crepe-like skin or other visible signs of aging such as fine lines or wrinkles.

What is it like?

Profhilo is injected just under the skin using very fine needles in pre-determined points. It is relatively painless and there is usually no need for topical pain relief creams prior to treatment. The treatment itself is very quick, taking only about 10 minutes.

On the face only five injection points are necessary on each side of the face to give maximum results.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime.  It is advisable to avoid alcohol, aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication in the 24 hours before treatment.

Immediately after treatment you should avoid wearing make-up, and give sports, swimming and any other strenuous physical activity a miss for 24 hours.  It is also best to avoid saunas and steam rooms for a few days after treatment.

What are the risks & side effects?

There are no long-term side effects. Profhilo is metabolised by the body completely.

No allergy test is required prior to treatment. The risk of allergic reactions is substantially reduced because Profhilo does not contain any synthetic chemicals which some people might react to.

Some people may experience redness, slight bruising, tenderness as well as itching at the injection sites but these were temporary and should resolve within a few hours to a day.

Microsclerotherapy

microsclerotherapy

Microsclerotherapy

Microsclerotherapy - is a well-established method for treating leg veins by injection.

Microsclerotherapy is one of the most effective and well-established treatments for telangiectasia – or spider veins/thread veins – an issue that affects up to 50% of all adults.

Although spider veins can cause discomfort in some, for many patients, these small dilated blood vessels are an unsightly problem that they wish to have removed through procedures such as foam sclerotherapy, microsclerotherapy, laser therapy or even surgery.

Microsclerotherapy differs from sclerotherapy in that it uses micro-needles to specifically target telangiectasia, rather than larger varicose veins.

Microsclerotherapy is most effective in the treatment of spider veins on the legs, and involves the injection of a solution, or ‘sclerosant’, with a very fine needle into the problem blood vessel. The injected solution is designed to destroy the blood vessel lining triggering fibrosis, causing the vessel to close and fade away.

The use of graduated compression hosiery (support toghts/stockings) after treatment supports and promotes the healing process, minimising undesirable side effects such as the development of post-sclerotherapy thrombi and general inflammation.

This treatment is not suitable for varicose veins.

iPRF - Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin

Areas to be treated: Hair loss, hair rejuvenation, tear troughs, fine lines and wrinkles, hands, décolletage, lips, cheeks - every where!

Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin (iPRF, PRF treatment)

Injectable platelet rich fibrin or (i-PRF / iPRF)  is a unique rejuvenation technique that uses the patient’s own blood plasma, enriched with:

- fibrin (wound healing and regeneration matrix)

- platelets (source of healing proteins and growth factors)

- stem cells (the conductors of our body’s own healing and regeneration molecules)

Why fibrin is important? Fibrin functions as a matrix that traps the platelets and controls their release of growth factors very slowly and continuously over a time period of more than one week. Growth factors release rate into the target tissue is important for tissue receptors to respond over a prolonged period of time following treatment.

Have you ever looked at dermal fillers and thought ‘I am just not ready to have something injected like that, but want something more natural?’ Well iPRF is perfect for you. Normal dermal fillers are great for adding lost volume, but iPRF is ideal for adding a small amount of volume but regenerating over the following weeks after treatment. iPRF intensifies the functioning and reproduction of cells, having a gentle, gradual, yet long lasting and accumulative effect.

The natural product is injected or microneedled (depending on the desired outcome), into the area of concern resulting in activation of accelerated healing and regeneration. As a result, the body’s own regenerative properties are concentrated and focused on the area of concern.

Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin (iPRF) is an all-natural, non-surgical regenerative treatment that utilises the patient’s own blood platelets in order to treat fine lines and wrinkles, volume loss, photo damage, scars, pigmentation, poor texture and hair restoration.

Hair Restoration for Hair Loss and Thinning Hair - iPRF

Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin

Hair loss / Hair rejuvenation - iPRF (injectable platelet rich fibrin) is used to reverse the signs of hair loss in men and women as part of a multi-step treatment of the scalp. This is an all-natural non-surgical therapeutic option for patients who suffer from hair loss or thinning. iPRF can enhance the growth of hair follicles by stimulating the stem cells and other cells in the microenvironment of the hair follicle. These special Platelet cells promote healing and accelerates the rate and degree of tissue regeneration, resulting in new hair growth and thickening of existing hair.

The use of IPRF has grown in popularity in the last couple of years, as a great treatment option for hair loss, because it has a number of scientifically based articles showing its efficacy increasing hair count, hair thickness, and the growth phase of the hair cycle.

Before your appointment:

Two weeks prior to treatment you must stop taking any blood thinner medication such as Ibuprofen.

You MUST have drunk 1 litre of fluid (non alcoholic) 1 hour before attending your appointment and make sure to be wearing clothes that keep you warm. This makes taking your blood easier.

What to expect after treatment:

Immediately after the treatment, most people experience some minor bruising, swelling and redness at the injection sites which is totally normal for any injections. This reduces significantly within 48 hours. During this time we may recommend using Paracetamol to treat any pain and to keep hydrated. Hair must not be washed for 24 hours.

Most patients who undergo IPRF hair treatments enjoy a substantial increase in hair thickness, hair count, and hair density. For best results, consistency is key. Treatments are typically performed once a month for the first three months, then every three to six months thereafter, depending on your response and results.

Body Contouring : Ultrasound Cavitation, Radiofrequency & Vacuum Suction

Introducing the FDA approved Zemits AbigonPro which utilises not just one but three different technologies to target a range of concerns. Finally available at Charlotte Elizabeth Aesthetics a non invasive way to target and reduce fat cells along with tightening and firming skin laxity. Liposuction and body contouring without any surgery or needles! Perfect for those stubborn areas of fat that won’t budge no matter what you do.

1. Ultrasound Cavitation is a process where sound waves affect the permeability of fat cells, allowing fat to escape and be metabolised by the body. This gives instant inch-loss as well as a long-term reduction in the really stubborn areas of fat that are typically resistant to exercise, such as the abdomen or outer thigh.
2. Safe and effective Radiofrequency energy is applied to the skin causing gentle heating. For the treatment of cellulite the deepest layers of the skin are heated to a temperature which increases local blood circulation.
3. Vacuum RF therapy is a non-invasive scientifically researched treatment, certified by the FDA. It offers an effective solution to cellulite in all stages, reduces localised fat and reshapes the body. The vacuum element encourages drainage of fatty deposits into the lymphatic system, promotes the breakdown of fibrous tissue and leads to a reduction in the volume in fat cells. During skin tightening procedures, the heating action accelerates collagen production and leads to a contraction of collagen fibres and a restructuring and tightening the skin. Particularly good results are seen on post pregnancy ‘lax’ skin and facial skin tightening.

What should I expect after treatment?
The treated area may be pink for a short time after treatment, but this will subside quickly. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. As a result of some of the triglycerides being metabolised by passing into the urinary system it is also quite normal to experience an increased need to go to the toilet. In fact, it is recommended that patients drink increased quantities of water for a short period of time after the treatments to encourage and enhance this particular removal process for the fat cells. Immediately after treatment, contraction of collagen fibres improves skin elasticity and the skin should appear firmer and up to 4 inches can be lost in one session.

How many treatments are necessary?

Generally a course of 6-8 sessions is recommended for facial skin tightening and series of 8-10 treatments for the reduction of cellulite, slimming and body contouring.

How does Vacuum Radiofrequency Therapy work?
The Vacuum RF uses suction and pressure to release the fluids in the fat cells that cause cellulite. Along with Radio Frequency energies to create superficial and deep heating of connective tissue fibres, dermal collagen fibres and fat cells. These energies soften the connective tissue and stimulate the production of new collagen for improved skin elasticity and resilience. By creating cellular turnover, the skin appears tighter and more youthful. The results include a localized reduction in skin laxity, increased dermal volume and improved skin texture and structure.

It is frequently recommended for:
- Reducing excess fat deposit in hips, thighs and buttocks
- Improved blood circulation
- Relaxing muscle tension
- Increased lymph circulation and elimination of toxins
- Improved skin tightness, firmness and elasticity
- Prevention of cellulite by inhibiting fat storage

What is a typical treatment like?
It is painless, relaxing and you may experience a gentle warming heat with a comfortable massage. The typical treatment time is about 30-45 minutes, concentrating on the problem area.

Who is the treatment suitable for?
The treatment can be carried out on adult men and women.

PowerSculpt (same technology as EMSculpt)

Introducing a powerful new revolution in body shaping and muscle toning. Just one 30-minute treatment is equivalent to 20,000 crunches, squats, curls or leg extensions.

3D Powersculpt can:
-Burn fat
-Tone muscle Build muscle shape
-Sculpt
-Lift and tighten

Why 3D-Powersculpt?

Featuring seven different wavelengths, for varied desired results, the 3D Powersculpt allows operators to create a targeted approach to muscle toning and body shaping while also being used as an accelerator to other body-contouring treatments.

Using high-intensity electromagnetic technology to engage the muscle, the electromagnetic field, polarise and depolarises creating motor neurone pulses in 100% of the muscle fibre, which is significantly more than what would be possible in conventional exercise.

The electro-magnetic technology keeps the muscles tense and contracted repeatedly throughout the treatment, forcing the muscle tissue to adapt, resulting in muscle building and fat burning. This is not to be confused with older technology like direct current.

How does it work?

3D Powersculpt provides electro-magnetic fields to a muscle to trigger the biological effect of exercise in a non-invasive, painless manner. Electro-magnetic fields are used to contract and stimulate muscle energy production. This engages the Mitochondria, encouraging the muscle to adapt to this increase in energy.
The intense muscle contractions stimulate muscle hypertrophy, creating new protein strands and muscle fibres resulting in increased muscle density and volume.

Myokines are signalling molecules, released by muscle fibres during contractions that reinforce the effects of the Mitochondria and muscle adaptation, aiding with fat and calorie burning, metabolic rate improvement and reducing overall body inflammation.

What are the results?

The overall result following a course of 3D Powersculpt treatments is an increase in muscle volume and density and reduced fat percentage in the target area due to an improved metabolic rate.

Why are the Benefits?

• Fast treatment times.
• Equivalent to 20,000 crunches or
squats in just one treatment.
• No exercise required*.
• Pain free.
• No downtime.
• Affordable treatments.
• Effective results.
• Can target multiple areas and main muscle groups.

How many treatments will I need?

A course of 8 treatments is required, 2 x 30 minute treatment per week

Intralipotherapy - Fat Dissolving Injections

130803132_4081938845167865_854523649199356662_n_edited_edited.jpg

Intralipotherapy (Fat Dissolving Injections)

Which areas can be Treated?

The most commonly treated areas are the hips, thighs, the area underneath the buttocks, the stomach and the fat pad underneath the chin, but it can be used wherever stubborn fat is a problem, including the upper arms.

More than one treatment is often required to obtain the desired results and this will be discussed with Charlotte at your consultation.

How does the treatment work?

Intralipotherapy involves the injection of a fat dissolving substance (Sodium Deoxycholate) into localised fat deposits, Sodium Deoxycholate is an ionic detergent that is especially useful for disrupting and dissociating protein interactions. The solution is injected into the treatment area using needle or cannula and causes destruction of the fat cells which then undergo degradation and are removed from the body by the lymphatic system.

Sodium Deoxycholate works gradually with-in the tissue and the process of removal takes time, results can sometimes be seen soon after initial treatment but it normally takes several weeks to over a month for optimum results to fully visible.

Treatment regime:
The time taken for a treatment session will depend upon the size of the area and indication being treated.

Treatment can take between 10-20 minutes per treatment and you will typically require 2 – 8 treatments, 4 weeks apart. Some people may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions.

Treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin, for example, may require 1 – 3 treatments, while treatment for fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require 8 treatments.

Are Intralipotherapy fat dissolving injections safe?

Sodium deoxycholate solutions have been used worldwide for many years and there is lots of evidence that prove its safety, however fat dissolving injections can potentially cause harm to the skin or surrounding tissue including muscle, nerves and blood vessels. It is therefore essential that treatment is performed by a suitably qualified and trained medical professional.

Safety is paramount and by adhering to the correct dosage, treatment depth, intervals between treatments and the post treatment after care any risk is minimised.

A local anaesthetic is added to the fat dissolving solution to help reduce any discomfort, however as with any medical aesthetic treatment there is likely to be minor pain during the procedure and some tenderness for a few days afterwards. Most people describe this as minimal discomfort and it does not tend to interfere with normal day to day activities. Painkillers can be taken following the treatment if required.
